Sustainability and green IT have become integral parts of the strategy due to AKDB’s social responsibility.

By 2025, AKDB wants to become CO2-neutral in its direct emissions. The prerequisites for this are the conversion to 100 percent green electricity that has already taken place and the future expansion of photovoltaic systems on all AKDB properties used by AKDB itself. Preparations are being made at all locations to set up vehicle charging infrastructures for employees and visitors.

The vehicle fleet of the AKDB is gradually being converted to hybrid or fully electric vehicles. In order to further reduce climate-damaging emissions, AKDB is switching from fossil heating systems to district heating fed with geothermal energy, will modernize existing heating systems and switch to LED lighting throughout the company.

Increase of 17% in the turnover, enhanced service capabilities, more focus towards a sustainable usage of the IT services, those are few of the highlights in the published annual report.

One of the main goals  in the last year for us was the continuous fulfillment of the requirements set by the law for online services in Germany (OZG). According to it 575 types of administrative services had to be transformed and offered to the public online. We are proud to announce that, thanks to our “Bürgerservice-Portal” 1.6 Mil. transactions have been done in the last year in the Free State of Bavaria alone.

A second core area is cloud services. With the increasing number of online services and outsourcing offers, AKDB wants to offer its customers optimal data center capacities. So, in 2022 we have initiated a large forward-looking project: the construction of two new active-active data centers in Bayreuth.
